How
to Use Your Valet Visa® Card to Make ATM Deposits
If you are a Valet account holder with a Visa® debit
card, you can deposit checks directly into your brokerage
account at more than 16,000 participating Star and NYCE
deposit ATMs nationwide. *
Although ATM screens vary from network to network, by
following the general directions provided below along
with the particular ATM’s specific instructions,
you should be able to successfully process your deposit:
-
Insert your Valet Visa® Card
-
-
Select the transaction type (Deposit)
-
Follow the instructions displayed on
the ATM screen
-
For additional security, you may want
to write your checking account number on the back of
the check(s) that you deposit.
* Not all Star and NYCE ATMs accept deposits.
When
Does My Deposit Appear in My Account?
If you make a deposit before 3:00 p.m.
EST, it will show in your brokerage account the next business
day as a “debit card credit transaction” with
the ATM location. If a deposit is made after 3:00 p.m.
EST, the funds will show in your account on the second
business day.
When
are the Funds Available for My Use?
When you make a deposit, a hold is placed
against the funds for a period of seven business days
in order to allow time for the funds to clear.
What
is the Minimum Deposit Amount?
The minimum deposit amount is $1 or the
ATM owner’s minimum (generally $5 - $10) whichever
is higher.
How
to Avoid ATM Fees:
| 1. |
|
Stop
Paying With Cash: Use
your Valet Visa card at department stores, local
retail shops, supermarkets, gas stations, post offices,
movie theatres, amusement parks, etc. You'll get
a receipt for your purchase and protect yourself
from theft. |
| 2. |
|
Get
Cash For Free: Many
"Point of Sale" merchants (such as supermarkets
and convenience stores) let you request cash back
by adding an amount to your total merchandise purchase.
The total of your cash plus merchandise receipt
will appear on your Valet statement as a single
transaction. |
| 3. |
|
Withdraw
More Cash:
If you must use ATMs, withdraw larger amounts of
cash to reduce the number of trips you make and
save on ATM fees. |
| 4. |
|
Pay
With Checks: Most
merchants readily accept personal checks and many
now have the ability to debit your account automatically
and return your check to you immediately, at the
register. Checks are safer than cash, especially
if you are travelling. Consider traveler's checks
for trips abroad. |
